Introduction

I have a passion for food, cook and eating! Who doesn't love food, right?

When I was younger I use to bring leftovers from my favorite meals for my dad. If I liked something I wanted him to try it too (yes daddy's little girl). As I got older and my family started become stricter in their religious practices, restaurant options became limited for my parents. As a Swaminarayan you weren't allowed to eat eggs, meat, fish or onions and garlic. Similiar to Jainism but we do eat pototoes and radishes. I wasn't quite that religious as my parents just because it was harder for me to get ready-made meals without onions and garlic on the island where I went to medical school. I tried eating Maggi Noodles with sambhar masala (onion and garlic free) for awhile but my taste buds would just not tolerate the same taste all the time. So I had to start cooking vegetarian meals that were onion and garlic free. I have started to replicate restaurant meals at home so my parents could have variety of meals.

So for all my Modern Swaminarayan friends I am starting this blog. Let's discover together cooking the Swaminarayan Way but with the same or even better taste.
